and we’re backkkkkk!

oh, come on. you had to be expecting i’d write about glee’s triumphant return this week. so no complaining. i know i’m a major #gleek and i’ve come to terms with it, k? time you confess too.
anyway, i liked the premiere overall. a lot of people weren’t thrilled and thought it was a little over-hyped (maybe it was), but i don’t know. i honestly was expecting a lot worse. so for that, i’m happy. everyone that knows me knows i hate change. seriously, i can’t stand it. so when i heard matt left (still confused about that but don’t really care) and we were getting new glee members, i was less-than-happy. i knew it was bound to happen. i was just hoping they wouldn’t screw it up.
i gotta say, i like sam! my immediate reaction to hearing another alpha male would be joining and taking away screen time from my precious cory monteith wasn’t the best. i was pissed. finn is my one of my favorites (and yes i know i’m in the minority about that one) and i just didn’t want some tough guy swooping in and stealing his spotlight. but like i said, i liked the kid. i think chord overstreet is a little hottie and one damn decent singer. i like that his character was kinda like finn’s. he wasn’t an asshole. he wasn’t full of himself. he’s very unaware of how cute he is.
as for charice, well i love her. ever since i heard her sing on oprah (shutup! that was a one-time thing, i swear), i was in awe. she didn’t have an easy childhood and damn, this HUGE voice comes out of someone so small and sweet. it’s hard not to like her. and i was surprised with her acting. i was expecting terrible, but she pulled off mediocre, which is all i can expect of a singer-turned-actress. anyway, i hope she comes back to new directions and we see a power struggle between her and rachel. we need that. this whole vocal adrenaline thing (you know, getting a new director and new “star” every 5 min) is getting old.
kurt and mercedes were adorable and spot-on with their comedy as usual. quinn is a little feisty now that she has that cheerios uniform back on. it was actually nice to see her get in a fight with the recently-enhanced santana. but to me, they should be fighting more over puck. but hey, that’s just me. i loved brittany’s one-liners as usual (“stop the violence”) and thought puck’s balls comment to sam was hilar.
as for my borderline-obsession with finchel (yes, that’s finn and rachel), i was expecting a little more…emotion? i wanted to see more aftermath of the “i love you!” did she say it back? i’m hoping this will be revisited soon enough. their cute scene in the hall was enough to hold me over, i guess. not looking forward to that “i still have feelings for you” scene with quinn i saw in a promo.
the whole schue and sue vs. ugly man/woman coach had me torn. like i literally felt so bad for her as she reached into her pocket and paid for the billion pizzas the duo ordered in her name. how sad is that? it was a little ridiculous that she threw finn off the team for the reason she did (helping artie get on the team) and that was my one real complaint about the writing. i do like that finn has to work for his position (which sam now has), but the artie thing was a bit of a cop-out.
speaking of artie…poor guy. tina and hottie mike chang are way more interesting than he and tina ever were. sorry, i’m just loving this aisan love connection. they are adorable and have better chemistry. i’m over the tina/artie thing. they were boring.
a few more thoughts:
where was emma? i didn’t really miss her all that much, but i better get to see john stamos next week!
how awesome was that jacob addressed real life rumors/comments in the beginning of the episode (rachel/lea being controlling, schue/matt’s rapping, etc)? i liked it and found it charming.
all i have to say is BRING ON BRITNEY! i am super pumped to watch next week. i heard the songs and they are awesome (although i thought lea’s “baby one more time” was surprisingly ehh). i also can’t wait for lea’s paramore cover of “the only exception.” it will be epic.
all i ask is for them to cut back on famous guest stars. let’s not get ahead of ourselves please. and that’s said with love.
